Acclaimed Romanian Films Take Over Chișinău
The Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) is bringing the latest and most acclaimed Romanian films to cinephiles in the Republic of Moldova.
Over 30 exceptional feature and short films will be screened in Chișinău from June 28th to 30th.
Renowned directors and actors, including Stere Gulea, Tudor Giurgiu, Cătălin Saizescu, Iulian Postelnicu, Rodica Lazăr, and Alex Călin, will be attending the event alongside many others. The program also features a unique live music cinema-concert.
Highlights of the Program:
- Libertate - This film chronicles the Romanian Revolution.
- Nasty - A documentary chronicling the career of tennis player Ilie Năstase, which received a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival.
- Tati Part Time - A parenting comedy starring Eva Măruță and Alex Bogdan.
- Moromeții 3 - The final instalment of the trilogy based on Marin Preda's novels, featuring Horațiu Mălăele and Oana Pellea.
Other noteworthy titles include "Băieții buni ajung în Rai" (translated as "The Good Boys Go to Heaven"), "Visul" (translated as "The Dream"), and "Rusalka" (translated as "Water Nymph"). These titles likely refer to additional films but their specific translations might be the actual English titles upon further examination.
The screenings will be held at ArtCor (outdoor venue), Cineplex Loteanu, and Cinema Odeon. Admission is free for all attendees.
Background on TIFF
Founded in 2002, the Transilvania International Film Festival is the first and largest international film festival in Romania. The event attracts over 100,000 participants each year and takes place annually in Cluj-Napoca.

TIFF Chișinău is organised by the Association for the Transilvania Film Festival (AFFT) in collaboration with YOUBESC and the Association of Creative Companies "COR". The project is funded by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, with the support of CNC, USAID, Sweden, and UKaid.
