National Security Commission to Examine Gen. Gorgan’s Case

The Commission for National Security, Defense, and Public Order may examine the case of General Gorgan in a closed-door session, during which representatives of the Information and Security Service (SIS) will be heard.

This announcement was made by the president of the aforementioned commission, Lilian Carp, during a broadcast on RLive.

When asked why Igor Gorgan was not detained and the risk of him leaving the country, Carp admitted that this decision was made to allow the SIS to expose the entire network to which Gorgan belonged.

"Details about this case must be provided by the SIS. If, within a certain period, they do not provide a public response, we will hold internal discussions within the commission to uncover the details. I have not yet requested this information because I believe the SIS should present as much information as possible. If not, we will hold closed-door discussions to understand the actions taken and to verify if my statement, that they acted this way to expose the entire network, is accurate," said the deputy.

Carp assured that there will be a public response on this subject very soon.

Additionally, the deputy rejected claims that Gorgan's candidacy was negotiated by Chiril Moțpan from PPDA and Vladimir Bolea from PAS, within the PSRM alliance and the ACUM bloc, which includes PPDA and PAS.

"The first decree was issued in 2016 and was signed by then-president Igor Dodon. In 2019, at Voicu's proposal, Gorgan was appointed by another decree from Igor Dodon. The individual in question could have been recruited after his appointment and acted in the interest of another state. Igor Dodon had information from the SIS about this individual," said Carp.

Referring to the Interpol case, Lilian Carp stated that this matter is being discussed within the faction and that PAS will withdraw any political support given to those targeted in the Interpol file.

"This will be a law for everyone, so no one should think that if they are appointed for a certain period and given a vote of confidence to act, they can commit illegalities and expect protection. If you break the law, be prepared to face the consequences."
