US Imposes Sanctions on Guțul Over Kremlin Ties

The United States today announced sanctions against Evghenia Guțul, the governor of UTA Gagauzia, for her complicity with the convicted oligarch Ilan Șor and his former party.

These sanctions are also imposed for facilitating their actions of illegal political interference, which are supported by the Kremlin. The measures include blocking all properties in the United States or under the control of individuals from the US, prohibiting transactions with American citizens, and prohibiting the provision or receipt of funds, goods, and services.

"Moldovan citizens, including residents of UTA Gagauzia, deserve free and fair elections, and democratic institutions," stated the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova. "They also deserve a future free from the malign influence of the Kremlin. We will continue to support the people and government of Moldova to build a more democratic, prosperous, and secure future."

Additionally, the United States imposed sanctions against hundreds of entities worldwide, including three companies from Moldova - Airrock Solutions, Aerostage Services, and Max Jet Service - for supplying components for aeroplanes and electronics to companies in Russia.

It is noteworthy that on May 29, the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, stated in Chisinau that the United States of America could impose new sanctions against those who intend to undermine democracy in the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the head of state mentioned that Moldovan authorities are collecting this information to transmit it to the United States.
