Moscow Under Siege: Hurricane Wreaks Havoc

Hurricane Edgar slammed into Moscow, unleashing a torrent of wind gusts exceeding 25 metres per second, accompanied by torrential downpours, hail, and even tornadoes.

Latest reports indicate at least two fatalities and 14 injuries, with many of the wounded in serious condition.

The ferocious storm tore through the Russian capital, wreaking havoc. Metal sheets and roofing were ripped from construction sites, while over 700 trees were knocked down. The uprooted trees caused further destruction, crushing more than 300 cars. Consequently, Moscow authorities have ordered the closure of parks and outdoor cafes since morning. Airport operations, however, remain unaffected.
