Israel Delays Mandatory ETA-IL Permits Until 2025
Israeli authorities have postponed the introduction of mandatory electronic permits (ETA-IL) for entry into the country until January 1, 2025.
This announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău, which indicated that the pilot program has been extended. As a result, Moldovan citizens can apply for the permit without incurring the fee during this period.
The requirement to obtain an ETA-IL was initially scheduled to become mandatory and fee-based starting August 1, 2024, for travellers from all countries with visa-free entry to Israel, including citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
The ETA-IL application site began operating in testing mode on June 1, 2024. During this testing phase, the Population and Immigration Authority received several requests to review the transition date from the testing phase to full operation. Consequently, the pilot program has been extended until December 31, 2024.
Starting January 1, 2025, the fee for obtaining an ETA-IL to enter Israel will be 25 new Israeli shekels, approximately six euros.
It is important to note that the electronic travel authorization must be obtained exclusively online.
