Romania's support for Moldova's EU path emphasised

On the occasion of the Republic of Moldova's Independence Day, Romanian leaders sent messages of congratulations and support to Moldovan citizens.

Officials underscored Romania's commitment to Moldova's European path and its intention to continue supporting European integration efforts.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis stated in his message that Moldovan citizens are "part of the great European family." He added that "continuing current efforts will turn EU accession into a fulfilled objective" and assured that Romania will persist in offering "strategic support on all fronts" to Moldova.

Romanian Foreign Minister Luminița Odobescu extended "warm wishes of prosperity and progress to all Moldovan citizens on Independence Day."

In his message, Nicolae Ciucă, President of the Romanian Senate, highlighted August 27 as a moment to reflect on the "sequence of events from over three decades ago," which led to the restoration of rights for former Soviet republics.

Ciucă reaffirmed that Bucharest stands "alongside the authorities in Chișinău on the path to joining European structures," viewing EU integration as "the only guarantee of development and prosperity" for Eastern Europe.

He emphasised that Romania "celebrates this significant day" with Moldovans and extends wishes for "prosperity and success in their European journey."
