Moldovan woman investigated for airport theft
A Moldovan woman is under criminal investigation by law enforcement on suspicion of stealing money and other valuables from a Ukrainian passenger.
The alleged theft, which resulted in an estimated loss of 25,800 lei (1.334,75 euro), occurred on September 3rd at Chișinău Airport.
According to the Border Police, authorities identified the suspect, a resident of the Anenii Noi district, on September 4th. During a search of her residence, 715 euros, 340 Turkish lira, and other belongings of the victim were recovered.
The suspect is currently under investigation but has not been detained. If found guilty, she faces a fine of up to 32,500 lei (1.681,37 euro), community service ranging from 120 to 240 hours, or up to 2 years in prison.
