Angelica Caraman: Report on the possible involvement of over 130 thousand people in bribing voters did not reach the CEC
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) says that for now it has not received from the law enforcement officers any materials from the criminal investigation regarding the possible involvement of more than 130 thousand people in the illegal financing and bribing of voters on the eve of the October 20 polls. After receiving the documents, the electoral authority will examine the evidentiary arguments, said the president of the CEC, Angelica Caraman, on the "Spațiul Public" show on Radio Moldova.
" CEC will examine them and will express itself through its decision. We also have other complaints addressed to the CEC regarding violations that some candidates admit in these elections, namely the involvement of the church to run their election campaign, they do it openly and this is a violation of the Electoral Code. We have open demonstrations of material support for some entities that are not registered in this electoral race, but their support from outside the country is openly declared. It is about non-transparent financing, which constitutes a violation of an electoral campaign", said the president of the Central Electoral Commission.
We remind you that the General Police Inspectorate and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced last week about a large scheme of illegal financing and corruption involving 130 thousand people. They would have received transfers of 15 million dollars only in September through the Russian bank PromsveazyBank, which is under international sanctions. The law enforcement officers said that the scheme would be implemented by the "organized criminal group led by Ilan Şor", which would also include people from the Russian Federation. Those involved would have been remunerated monthly with amounts varying between 900 and 45 thousand lei.
