Turkey strikes Kurdish militants in Syria and Iraq

Turkey launched strikes Thursday for the second consecutive day, targeting Kurdish militant positions in Syria and Iraq.

This action follows Wednesday's attack on the headquarters of a prominent defence company, which resulted in at least five fatalities, the Associated Press reports.

The National Intelligence Organization targeted numerous strategic locations utilised by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and affiliated Syrian Kurdish militias, according to the Turkish state-run news agency Anadolu. These targets included military installations, intelligence centres, energy infrastructure, and ammunition depots.

A security official confirmed the use of armed drones in Thursday's strikes.

On Wednesday, Turkish air forces conducted airstrikes against similar targets in northern Syria and northern Iraq, just hours after government officials attributed the deadly attack on the aerospace and defence firm TUSAS to the PKK.

Defense Minister Yasar Guler announced Thursday that 47 alleged PKK targets were destroyed in Wednesday's operation – 29 in Iraq and 18 in Syria.

"Our nation can be assured that we will continue our fight with ever-greater determination to eliminate the forces that threaten the security and peace of our country and our people, until the last terrorist is eradicated from this region," Guler stated.
