Moldovan volunteer firefighters: Dedicated to community safety
Approximately 150 volunteer firefighters from various Moldovan communities demonstrated their skills and shared experiences at a festival held in the village of Zubrești, Strășeni district.
These rescuers emphasised that despite the extremely difficult and dangerous nature of their work, they are always ready to lend a helping hand to people in need.
At the festival, 16 teams of volunteer firefighters, including three junior teams, competed in events such as donning firefighting gear, performing firefighting operations from fire engines, and rescuing victims.
"In case of a fire, we are immediately notified, and the sooner we arrive, the better. From our experience, we have arrived at all fires before the professional firefighters from Strășeni district."
"I learned how to provide first aid, how to extinguish a fire, and I am familiar with the equipment. I will continue to be a volunteer in my community."
We act until the professional firefighters arrive. We respond to emergencies in the nearby communities. If they cannot handle it, the mayor calls us.
