IGP about the new fake: These are messages intended to cause panic among citizens

The law enforcement agencies announced about a new fake message on social networks that individuals posing as employees of state institutions are visiting citizens' homes to collect personal data, which they later use to commit theft. In response, the IGP (General Police Inspectorate) assures the public that no such incidents have been reported.

"We consider these messages to be intentionally designed to incite panic among citizens and urge the public to refrain from spreading fake information. We want to assure you that whenever there is a genuine threat to public safety, the police will provide clear and accurate information, as demonstrated during the recent 'relative involved in the accident' scam," reads the press release.

In this context, authorities encourage citizens who have any information that could aid the police to report it to any police officer or call the emergency number 112.
