The Republic of Moldova and Great Britain signed today an Agreement on the readmission of persons residing illegally, which will allow the "safe return" of Moldovan citizens who are illegally present on the territory of Great Britain, in line with international standards. Also, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi and his British counterpart David Lammy signed today a partnership in the field of security and defense.
The head of diplomacy from Chișinău said that the affected citizens will be able to return to the country with the support of the British authorities, and the Agreement does not affect those who reside and live legally in this country.

"The bilateral partnership in the field of security that we signed will allow us to boost dialogue and cooperate more effectively on issues related to regional security, strengthening resilience in the face of hybrid threats and strengthening collaboration at the operational level", says the Moldovan official.
The United Kingdom and Romania are strategic partners of the Republic of Moldova, firm supporters of democracy, the rule of law, peace, stability and modernization of our country, says Mihai Popșoi.
"In the context of the recent presidential elections and the referendum, I highlighted the determination of the Moldovan authorities in combating malicious strategic interference, aimed at destabilizing and creating divisions in society and undermining democracy through illicit financing schemes, disinformation campaigns and cyber-attacks...() We reiterate our unwavering support for Ukraine, for the independence and sovereignty and territorial integrity of the neighbouring state. We will continue to stand in solidarity and provide assistance to Ukraine...() Today's visit to the Republic of Moldova is a strong message of support from the two strategic partners Romania and the UK", concluded the Deputy Prime Minister.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland offers the Republic of Moldova aid worth five million pounds
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will provide five million pounds of aid to the Republic of Moldova for the health sector. An announcement in this regard was made by David Lammy, during the joint conference held with Mihai Popșoi and Luminița Odobescu.
“We will provide the Republic of Moldova with five million pounds in health funding, we will support Ukrainian refugees, and we will give even more money to combat illicit financing and problems in the field of cybersecurity. I am glad that we can support beautiful activities,” the official said.
At the same time, the British official welcomed the signing in Chisinau of the defence and security partnership and the agreement on the readmission of persons residing illegally.
“We support a strong and sovereign Republic of Moldova, capable of opposing the threats of the Russian Federation. We signed this bilateral partnership in the field of defense and security, strengthening our cooperation in the field of combating disinformation, and organized crime. We welcome the signing of the new remission agreement, those who break the law will be removed from the territory of Great Britain, we also welcome the progress made in terms of the recognition of driving licenses”, David Lammy stressed.
