Moldovan candidates compete in Romanian parliamentary elections

Five political parties in Romania have included candidates from the Republic of Moldova on their lists for the parliamentary elections across the Prut River.

The electoral race for a seat representing the diaspora in Parliament includes a total of eight Moldovan candidates.

Among the Moldovan candidates is IURIE CIOCAN, listed on the Social Democratic Party's roster and running for the Chamber of Deputies. Ciocan previously served as chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova and is listed as number four on the ballot.

Another Moldovan candidate competing for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies is BORIS VOLOSATÎI, representing the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians. He was the director of the “Gheorghe Asachi” High School in Chișinău and is now a member of the Romanian Parliament.

VASILE COSTIUC, the leader of the Democracy at Home Party in the Republic of Moldova, is also vying for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies in Romania. At 43, Costiuc is running as a candidate for AUR.

Two more Moldovan candidates are running for the Forța Dreptei (Right Force) party. These candidates include ION IOVCEV, a former director of the “Lucian Blaga” High School in Tiraspol, who is aiming for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies, and LEONID BOAGHI, currently the PAS mayor of Sireți. Both Iovcev and Boaghi are listed at the top of the party's roster.

Next is SILVIA RADU, running for the Chamber of Deputies as a candidate for the Independent Social Democratic Party. Radu previously served as interim mayor of the Capital and as Minister of Health.

DOINA ZAMĂNEAGRĂ is another Moldovan candidate running for a seat in the Romanian Senate. A graphic designer by profession, she represents the SOS Romania party, led by Diana Șoșoacă.

MIHAIL VINOGRADOV is the eighth Moldovan candidate seeking a seat in the Romanian Senate, also listed on the SOS Romania party's roster. The only known detail about him is that he is a prosecutor by profession.
