The Republic of Moldova will receive $1.3 billion grant from US for development projects
The US will provide additional support in the form of a grant worth $1.3 billion under the Development Objective Assistance Agreement signed by the governments of Chisinau and Washington.
Part of the amount will be allocated to transport infrastructure development projects, to improve trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. Another part of the grant will be used to build truck parking areas near the state borders, purchase equipment and provide technical assistance for the development of the Berești Multimodal Logistics Center.
The allocated funds are also intended to increase cyber resilience within public and state institutions. The assistance will include cybersecurity training and the development of related skills to anticipate and respond to threats in the cyber sector.
The Development Objective Assistance Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America for Sustainable Economic Growth anchored in European Integration was signed in Chisinau, on September 28, 2016. During the thirty years of partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has implemented over 130 development projects, providing $2.1 billion in partnership with the Republic of Moldova.
