Moldova and Ukraine agree on mutual recognition of diplomas
During President Maia Sandu's official visit to Kyiv, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popșoi signed an agreement with Ukraine's Education and Science Minister Oksen Lisovyi on the mutual recognition of diplomas and academic qualifications between Moldova and Ukraine.
According to Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement aims to enhance professional and educational mobility between the two nations, creating better opportunities for students and educators.
"Ukrainian educators will be eligible to teach in Moldovan schools, while Moldovan educators will gain greater access to collaborative opportunities in Ukraine. Furthermore, the agreement will facilitate the integration of Ukrainian refugees into Moldova’s education system by recognizing their qualifications and will help diversify the teaching workforce in response to growing demands on the education sector," the Ministry stated.
In December 2024, Moldova’s Cabinet approved starting negotiations for a bilateral agreement with Ukraine on the mutual recognition of diplomas and academic qualifications. The proposed agreement seeks to remove administrative and legal hurdles that hinder the automatic recognition of credentials, thereby facilitating the mobility of students, researchers, and educators between the two countries.
