The airspace of the Republic of Moldova will be partially closed during June 1-2, during which our country will host 47 heads of state and government at the European Political Community Summit. According to the Civil Aeronautical Authority, the decision of the Interdepartmental Commission for Airspace Management was taken in order to ensure aeronautical safety and security.
Thus, according to the quoted source, the use of the national airspace will be limited starting from June 1, 2023, at 07:00, until June 2, 2023, at 07:00. "The national authorities involved in the process of organizing the Summit are constantly evaluating the use of airspace in the context of the organization of the Summit and will ensure the information of the population in a timely manner," reads the quoted statement. We remind you that 47 presidents and heads of government, as well as the leaders of the European Union, are expected on June 1, 2023, in Chisinau. EU leaders will participate in the European Political Community Meeting, an event organized for the first time in the Republic of Moldova. An official invitation to this effect was signed by the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, and was sent to the heads of state and government of the participating countries. The leaders meeting in Chisinau will discuss joint efforts for peace, in the context of the war in Ukraine and related crises, the defense of democracy, the strengthening of energy security and the resilience of European states. The European Political Community was created last year, at the initiative of the French President, Emmanuel Macron. The first CPE meeting was held in Prague in October 2022.
