Chisinau Airport concession case: Ex-Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and some members of his government have been indicted
Eight public and public officials have been charged in an episode of the Chisinau International Airport concession case. They are alleged to have damaged the state with more than 392 million lei, according to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
A former Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, a former Minister of Economy, a former director of the Public Property Agency, a former deputy director of the Public Property Agency, a former deputy head of the Directorate of the Public Property Agency, a former interim general director of the Chisinau International Airport, a former financial director of the Chisinau International Airport, head of the economic analysis department of the Chisinau International Airport will be charged, according to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
To recover the damage caused, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, together with the ARBI of the NAC, has seized the property and assets of the defendants in an amount of over 28 million lei.
On 22 July 2022, former Prime Minister Iurie Leanca was heard as a suspect by anti-corruption prosecutors in the case of the concession of the Chisinau International Airport.
The decision to concession the airport was taken on the last day of the Filat 2 government's mandate, on 30 May 2013. The government led by interim Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, in which Valeriu Lazar was Minister of Economy, supported the project.
The concession agreement was signed on 30 August 2013.
