The number of cases of COVID-19, seasonal flu and acute upper respiratory tract infections decreases
In the Republic of Moldova, there is a decrease in the number of cases of COVID-19, seasonal flu and acute upper respiratory tract infections (IARCS), the Ministry of Health announces.
According to the quoted source, in the period 6-12 March, 2,836 cases of COVID-19 were registered, down by more than 23% compared to the previous week, 48 cases of seasonal flu, by 22.6% less, 7 825 – IARCS, down 18.5% and 360 – severe acute respiratory infections (SARS).
The number of hospitalizations due to acute viral respiratory infections also decreases, by about 6%, notes the Ministry of Health. 263 people with IARCS and 32 with flu were hospitalized in medical institutions. Most admissions are among children up to four years old.
The institution states that there have been no deaths caused by the flu. In all, this season, 1 817 cases of influenza, 232 522 – IARCS and 9 701 – SARI were confirmed.
