Unified Control Commission: Chisinau representatives report serious violations in the Security Zone
The military contingent of the Russian Federation within the Joint Peacekeeping Forces admits serious violations of the Security Zone regime. The most recent and most serious case took place on Wednesday 19 April at 04:53 in the morning near the peacekeeping post near the Vadul lui Voda bridge, where an uncoordinated movement of armoured military equipment by the Russian military on mission was recorded. To keep the situation under control, the Dubasari police had to be involved. This and other violations were reported today by Chisinau representatives at the weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission.
On Wednesday, at 04:53 in the morning, a case of uncoordinated movement of armoured military equipment with Russian soldiers on mission was recorded near the peacekeeping post No. 9 near the Vadul lui Voda bridge, Chisinau municipality. Representatives of the Unified Control Commission of Chisinau reported in a statement that a convoy consisting of an armoured vehicle "BTR-60" and a military truck "Ural", carrying a group of soldiers, their faces hidden under military masks, but who are not part of the personnel of the peacekeeping posts, moved to the internal customs and police post "Pîrîta" and back to post No. 9.
The Chisinau delegation states that, in fact, in the period February-April this year, such actions of movement of armoured military equipment outside the radius of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces posts have been recorded. At the same time, the representatives of Chisinau in the Unified Control Commission have repeatedly reported that the Russian military has unjustifiably stopped the means of transport of citizens, especially those of the accredited diplomatic corps, at the Joint Force posts.
According to the representatives of Chisinau in the Unified Control Commission, these incidents have repercussions in society and amplify the discontent of the inhabitants of the Security Zone, who are periodically subjected to unjustified stops with excessive checks on documents and transport units.
The delegation of Chisinau considers the verification of documents by members of the peacekeeping mission as provocative and defiant and calls on the military contingent of the Russian Federation to refrain from destabilising actions and to contribute to the preservation of peace on the banks of the Dniester.
