The Republic of Moldova relies on the support of the EU in implementing energy efficiency projects
The fourth meeting of the High-Level Energy Dialogue between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova took place in Brussels. The Moldovan delegation, represented by a group of deputies and the Minister of Energy, requested financial support from the EU for the implementation of energy efficiency projects, according to a statement from the Parliament.
European officials appreciated Moldova's efforts to achieve energy independence.
"Among the progress mentioned are aspects such as: the right bank [of the river] no longer consumes Russian gas, we can buy natural gas from anywhere we want, we have ensured strategic reserves of natural gas, and we are connected to the European electricity network," stated Radu Marian, President of the Committee on Economy, Budget, and Finance.
Furthermore, the Moldovan delegation insisted on requesting financial support from the European Union for the implementation of energy efficiency programs, including subsidizing the procurement of modern appliances and improving the energy efficiency of households, as well as grants for condominium associations.
"Ensuring the independence and resilience of the energy sector is a priority for the government in Chișinău, unequivocally supported by the European Parliament, the European Commission, and other European institutions," mentioned Deputy Ina Coșeru.
The event in Brussels was attended by Radu Marian, President of the Committee on Economy, Budget, and Finance, Deputies Ina Coșeru and Mariana Cușnir, and Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov. The EU delegation was led by European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson.
