"Teleradio Moldova" Public Broadcaster starts registrations for Eurovision 2023

"Teleradio Moldova" Public Broadcaster announces the opening of the registration session for the National Selection of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Participants will submit their application files by January 16, 2023, 5:00 p.m., either in electronic format, at www.eurovision.md, in the Apply section, or on paper, at the Eurovision 2023 Collection Center, at : Chisinau, Hâncești str., 64, TV Moldova 1 (TV antechamber). To register for the contest, candidates must submit the application, the project description, the audio materials on digital media and the list of materials, in accordance with Regulation no. 111 of December 22, 2022 regarding the conduct of the National Selection and the designation of the representative of the Republic of Moldova at the international Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Each contestant can participate in the Contest with one or more songs. The song submitted must be up to three minutes long, be original, not infringe the rights of third parties and not have been performed publicly, in whole or in part, before September 1, 2022. Singers who hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, who are at least 16 years old, can participate in the Contest. In the case of collaborations, citizens of other states are also admitted, in a composition of no more than 50% of the total number of soloists. The national selection will take place in three stages: Stage 1: examination of the files during a meeting scheduled between January 17 and January 28, 2023; Stage 2: live audition of the songs, between 28 January and 05 February 2023. The score will be awarded in proportion to 100% by the jury. Stage 3: The National Final will be held between February 25 and March 5, 2023 and will be broadcast live on TV channel Moldova 1 and other services of Teleradio Moldova. The method of judging in the final will be: 50% jury and 50% viewers, and the winner will be designated the performer/group that will score most of the points.
The 67th edition of Eurovision will be held in Liverpool, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Last year's winner is the representative of Ukraine, the band Kalush Orchestra, with the song "Stefania". Due to the war started by Russia, Great Britain will organize the event on behalf of Ukraine. The two semi-finals will be broadcast live on May 9 and 11, and the Grand Final will take place on May 13, 2023. The Republic of Moldova has been participating in this contest since 2005, when it ranked 6th, following the performance of the band Zdob and Zdub, with "Boonica bate toba". The best result was in 2017 when SunStroke Project reached Nb. 3 with the song "Hey Mamma".
