The Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoană, will be in Iasi on Friday, November 17, to discuss economic security and innovation on the Eastern flank of the Alliance and the EU. The NATO official will be present at an event organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Iași, at the Palace of Culture, said the president of the Iași CCI, Paul Butnariu, informs Agerpres.

According to the cited source, the conference in which Mircea Geoană will participate aims to provide a series of answers to questions such as: "How can NATO and the EU contribute to strengthening economic security in our region?" How can technological innovations support economic security and stability on the Eastern flank? How can NATO and EU member states work together more effectively to address shared economic security challenges? What are the next steps and strategies needed to ensure sustainable economic security and innovation on the Eastern Flank? The potential and assuming the role of regional hub of Iași in the relationship with the Republic of Moldova".

"This event brings to the forefront topics of crucial importance and of great topicality and will provide a platform for discussion and exchange of ideas with the Deputy Secretary General of NATO. We will address topics from economic security in the current context, innovation and technology, about partnerships and regional collaboration, perspectives, but also the role and positioning of Iași in the regional context," said the president of the Iași Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Paul Butnariu.
