Moldova demands the withdrawal of Russian troops

Moldova's Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu reiterated his nation's unwavering demand for the unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory, emphasising the need to foster a peaceful resolution to the protracted Transnistrian conflict.

"The withdrawal of Russian troops is essential to create favourable conditions for the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict," Popescu asserted during a panel dedicated to Ukraine and the condemnation of Russia's aggression.

Popescu's remarks extended beyond the panel discussion, as he engaged in bilateral meetings with counterparts from European Union member states. These discussions centred on Moldova's ongoing accession process to the EU and the upcoming vote at the European Council on December 14-15.

"We are grateful for Romania's unwavering support and advocacy for Moldova's European path," Popescu expressed this during his meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Luminița Odobescu. "Romania has been a steadfast partner in our development endeavours and our aspirations for EU membership."*
