General Prosecutor's Office asks the Parliament to lift the immunity of Marina Tauber, in a case for "interference with the administration of justice"

The General Prosecutor's Office submitted a request to the Parliament regarding the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of deputy Marina Tauber. The announcement was made by the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, during the plenary session.

"Yesterday, the General Prosecutor's Office received a request regarding the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of MP Marina Tauber. The request is the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of MP Marina Tauber and the conviction of the lifting of the parliamentary immunity in order to send the criminal case to the court on the fact of committing the crime of "interfering with the administration of justice", declared Igor Grosu.

We remind you that, previously, the General Prosecutor's Office requested the Parliament to lift the immunity of deputy Marina Tauber.

We remind that the deputy's immunity was lifted on July 21, 2022, at the request of interim prosecutor Dumitru Robu. She was then accused of money laundering, crime committed by an organized criminal group or a criminal organization of particularly large proportions and fraud.

Later, from July 23 to September 14, 2022, Marina Tauber was placed in preventive detention, in Penitentiary No. 13, after which she was under judicial control.

On May 1, 2023, the deputy was placed under house arrest after she had tried to leave for Israel, where lives the fugitive oligarch and leader of the faction Ilan Şor, sentenced to 15 years in prison for fraud and money laundering, harming the state with over 5.4 billion lei. Marina Tauber does not plead guilty.
