The Supreme Court of Justice decided: Former president Igor Dodon remains free
The former president of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, remains free. A decision in this regard was taken by the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) on Monday, November 28. According to the magistrates, the decision is final.
It should be noted that the socialist Igor Dodon appeared before the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice on Monday, after the case prosecutor Petru Iarmaliuc filed an appeal to the CSJ against the court's conclusion regarding the preventive measures applied and the extension of their duration.
TRM.MD recalls that Igor Dodon, accused of committing the crime of passive corruption and organising and accepting the financing of the political party by a criminal organisation, was released from house arrest. The decision was taken on November 18 by the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice.
According to the judges' decision, Igor Dodon is prohibited from leaving the country for the next 60 days.
The former head of state was detained on May 24 on suspicion of passive corruption, accepting the financing of the political party by a criminal organisation, treason and illicit enrichment. He pleaded not guilty.
