"I am at the Ukraine Peace Summit to reaffirm Moldova's strong commitment to peace - peace that is not capitulation to the aggressor, peace that is not the occupation of territories, peace that respects Ukraine's territorial integrity. Ukraine's peace is Moldova's peace," the head of state wrote on the X platform.

We remind that on June 15 and 16, 2024, Switzerland is organizing a Ukraine Peace Summit in Bürgenstock (Canton of Nidwalden). The purpose of the meeting of heads of state and government is to develop a common understanding of a path to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. This should be the basis of a peace process.

Switzerland has repeatedly signaled its willingness to extend an invitation to Russia for the Ukraine Peace Summit. However, Russia has repeatedly indicated that it has no interest in participating. Therefore, no formal invitation was issued to Russia.

The summit in Switzerland aims to initiate a peace process. Switzerland is confident that Russia must be included in this process as it progresses. A peace process without Russia is unthinkable.

Following Ukraine's request, Switzerland invited more than 160 delegates from around the world to join the first Ukraine Peace Summit. So far, representatives of more than 90 countries have confirmed their presence.

The summit includes both plenary sessions attended by all heads of delegation, as well as discussions on various topics in smaller formats. Discussions will focus on pressing global concerns, including nuclear safety, food security and humanitarian issues such as the situation of prisoners of war and civilian detainees.
