Nicolae Ciucă: Romania continues to support Moldova regarding EU accession
Romania continues the in-depth dialogue with the Republic of Moldova, in order to give Chisinau all the necessary support in the process of joining the European Union. The statement belongs to the president of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă, who had a meeting with Ina Coșeru, the president of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission. Nicolae Ciucă claims that it is mandatory to combat disinformation and manipulations until October 20, when the presidential elections take place, simultaneously with the referendum for European integration.
According to a press release from the Senate of Romania, the top Romanian official conveyed to his interlocutor his full confidence in the efforts made by President Maia Sandu, the Government and the Parliament, to fulfill the objectives of reform, development and confirmation of the Republic of Moldova as a reliable partner at the European and international levels.
"The President of the Senate highlighted the professional manner in which the authorities in Chisinau managed the recent destabilization challenges, the security of the Republic of Moldova being a major priority for Romania and essential in the regional context, being closely linked to the security of Ukraine," reads the cited source.
Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă assured that Romania will continue to provide support in order to strengthen the resilience of the Republic of Moldova, offering complex assistance, transfer of expertise and training in various fields, such as cyber security, emergency management, preventing and combating drug trafficking weapons and corruption.
