Moldova Begins Negotiations to Join European Union
President Maia Sandu welcomes the start of negotiations for joining the European Union.
In a statement on social media, the head of state assured that the authorities in Chișinău will continue to work determinedly for Moldova to become a member of the European Union by 2030.
“Every step we take together brings us closer to the day our country joins the European Union. Today, the first Brussels-Chișinău Intergovernmental Conference took place, marking the start of negotiations in multiple areas. I thank everyone who made this moment possible in such a short time and have confidence that we will continue with the same determination for Moldova to be free, European, and a country where peace is guaranteed,” President Maia Sandu wrote on social media.
Today, in Luxembourg, the first intergovernmental conference took place, officially starting our country's accession to the European Union. In his speech, Prime Minister Dorin Recean declared that our country sees its future only in the European family. According to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, who leads our country's delegation in Luxembourg, the Republic of Moldova is taking substantial steps to consolidate its economy and become a competitive member of the European Union.
