Moldova presidential elections: Final results and court review
The Central Electoral Commission announced that it has consolidated the results for the second round of the presidential election and approved the final report to be submitted to the Constitutional Court, according to the institution’s president, Angelica Caraman.
Thus, based on the official reports from the electoral offices of the polling stations regarding vote count results, as well as on the official records of the centralised voting results for the second round of the presidential election, prepared and approved by the constituency electoral councils, the Central Electoral Commission determined that 1,701,333 voters received ballots and 1,701,284 voters participated in the election.
Out of the total 1,680,569 valid votes, 930,139 people voted for Maia Sandu, and 750,430 for Alexandr Stoianoglo.
The members of the Central Electoral Commission also approved the report on the results of the first round of the presidential election, which includes a detailed description of the preparation, organisation, and conduct of the presidential election.
It is specified that this report will be submitted to the Constitutional Court, along with the finalised report of the results of the second round of the Republic of Moldova’s presidential election. “Within 10 days of receiving the documents from the Central Electoral Commission, and only after any appeals have been definitively resolved according to established legal procedures, the Constitutional Court will issue an advisory statement confirming or rejecting the legality of the elections,” the statement reads.
