The annual meeting, widely seen as a gathering of the world’s wealthiest and most influential figures, kicks off this evening.

More than 1,700 delegates are participating in the event. U.S. President Donald Trump is anticipated to be a central focus of the discussions at the Swiss resort, despite not attending in person. He is scheduled to address participants virtually on January 23rd.

The four-day event is taking place under the theme “Collaboration for the Intelligent Era.” Key topics on the Davos agenda include increasing global geopolitical and economic uncertainty, trade tensions, climate goals, and how artificial intelligence can contribute to improving lives.

Launched in the early 1970s, the Davos meetings tackle the world’s most pressing challenges. Across more than 300 sessions, delegates propose solutions to critical issues, such as ensuring a smooth transition to clean energy and adapting to the new digital era.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos is celebrating its 55th edition this year.
