The deputies held a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Both government and opposition MPs have announced that they will donate one day's salary to help the victims.
The Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, sent his condolences to the people who suffered as a result of the earthquakes and expressed his gratitude to the Moldovan rescuers, sent on a mission to Turkey to help liquidate the consequences of the earthquakes. "More than ten days have passed and the rescuers continue to intervene in the liquidation of the consequences. 55 Moldovan rescuers from the IGSU of the MAI immediately went on a mission to Turkey to join the rescuers from other countries in extricating and saving the lives of people in the affected localities. It is a proud moment for our country which once again proved that it has a big heart. On behalf of the Parliament, we thank them for their attitude and involvement, we express our gratitude because they are brave Moldovans alongside Turkey and the Turkish people in these terrible moments. We thank you for your dedication and we are waiting for you healthy at home!", declared Igor Grosu. The Vice President of the Parliament, Mihai Popșoi, announced that the PAS Fraction decided to donate one day's salary to help the victims. The Bloc of Communists and Socialists declared that they join the charity action by donating one day's salary to the account opened by the Ministry of Finance. According to the latest information, as a result of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, more than 41 thousand people died, millions of people need humanitarian aid, many survivors were left homeless in winter temperatures.
