Government urges citizens to join global "Earth Hour" movement

The Government of the Republic of Moldova, together with government institutions, joins the global movement "Earth Hour", an action that consists in turning off public lighting to mobilize society to fight against climate change.

Thus, the Government urges citizens to participate in this action and to disconnect the light between 20:30 and 21:30.

Every year, on the last Saturday in March, millions of people, institutions and companies turn off their lights for an hour, joining the biggest environmental event - "Earth Hour". This year, organizers have aimed to make the event the "biggest earth hour" to date, involving supporters from more than 190 countries.

The Parliament is preparing the necessary steps to establish the organization of the Republican Constitutional Referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union as well as the presidential elections on October 20, said the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. According to the Parliament Speaker, after the voting of the project by the deputies, it will be sent to the Central Electoral Commission to start the procedure for holding the republican referendum in accordance with the legislation in force.
