The Moldovan soldier who died defying the Russians was posthumously decorated by Volodymyr Zelenskiy
On the Day of the Volunteer, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, decorated hundreds of Ukrainians, 47 of them posthumously. Among them is Oleksandr Matievski, the soldier originally from the Republic of Moldova, who became famous after he died defying the Russians. Also, the ukraininian president decorated Dmitro Koțubailo, known as "Da Vinci", also a famous figure in Ukraine, who voluntarily enlisted and fought in the east, as early as 2014, when he was a teenager.
